Border Insurance

This system guarantees that vehicles from outside EEA can obtain valid insurance cover at the borders

What is Border Insurance?

All vehicles that come from countries out of European Economic Area (EEA) shall access Spanish territory (and consequently the EEA) with a valid green card. To do so, they can either get one from their country of origin or if not, they must get one as soon as they enter Spanish territory.

Such green cards issued to foreign vehicles in the Spanish border zones are called Border Insurance (in Spanish abbreviated to “SEFRON”)
