The number of insured vehicles in Spain stood at 32,597,487 units at the end of the fourth quarter of 2021. This data corresponds to the average of the months of October, November, and December, and comes from the Informative Records of Insured Vehicles (FIVA). In this way, the vehicle fleet closes the year with a year-on-year growth of 1.77%.
In absolute numbers, the average number of vehicles in circulation increased by 577,136 units from one year to the next. This figure doubles the one registered a year ago, which shows that 2021 has been a year of recovery after the break that meant the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
The FIVA registry collects data from all the vehicles that are insured in Spain, whether they are cars, mopeds, motorcycles, vans, buses, industrial vehicles, etc.
FIVA offers a true picture of the evolution of the national car fleet. The data in this registry consider both the registrations of vehicles and the data of those that are deregistered.
